Teaching is not about answering questions but about raising questions – opening doors for them in places that they could not imagine

our approach

Wishing and willing for change doesn’t make change happen. After working within a broken education system for many years, we realized that the only way to enact educational reform on the level it needs to happen was to step outside of these institutions. Finding like-minded professionals and paraprofessionals, we’ve done just that. Currently, we work collaboratively with many organizations worldwide to support the needs of neurodivergent individuals by giving them a voice, working with them to regain their autonomy, and advocating for system-wide support.

One of our primary objectives is to educate and work with caregivers so that they gain not only an awareness, but also the skills to do away with the use of seclusion rooms and restraints (which give kids the message that those with power can exert that power unto others), replacing these with proactive and collaborative measure that help people develop the skills they’ll need throughout life.

The CPS Model

Our staff are trained in Dr. Ross Greene’s Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS) model, and overseen by a LITB Trainer & CPS Certified Provider. We work to train professionals and paraprofessionals in actualizing CPS within their working environments. In addition, we support families in better understanding Dr. Greene’s CPS model, and in collaboratively problem-solving with their children.

What is Collaborative & Proactive Solutions?

Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) is an evidence-based model of psychosocial treatment originated and developed by Dr. Ross Greene, and described in his books The Explosive Child, Lost at School, Raising Human Beings, and Lost & Found.

What does CPS do?

Rather than focusing on kids’ concerning behaviors (and modifying them), CPS helps kids and caregivers solve the problems that are causing those behaviors. The problem solving is collaborative (not unilateral) and proactive (not reactive). Research has shown that the model is effective at dramatically improving kids’ behavior and their relationships with their caregivers, and at dramatically reducing or eliminating discipline referrals, suspensions, restraints, and seclusions in schools.

Where has CPS been implemented?

In countless families, general and special education schools, group homes, inpatient psychiatric units, and residential and juvenile detention facilities across the globe.  An impressive and growing body of published research documents the effectiveness of the CPS model.

Hi! I’m Allen!

I am the CEO of WNDR Consulting Inc. and the only LITB Trainer in Alberta.

I believe it was Albert Einstein who said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.” If we are placing expectations on a person that we know they can’t yet meet (behaviors are the signal that tells us this), perhaps it’s time for us to work with them so that we find out what is actually getting in their way of success.

Either we spend time meeting children’s emotional needs by filling their cup with love, or we spend time dealing with behaviors caused by their unmet needs. Either way, we spend the time.
